Planning and Zoning Commission
The City Planning and Zoning Commission consists of seven members appointed by the Council. The Commission members are required to be residents of the City and cannot hold any elective office in the City Government.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Commission is charged with but not limited to overseeing City Zoning regulations, making recommendations to the City Council to amend or create new zoning regulations, to make recommendations for improvements to publicly owned land and right of ways, review and make comments on plats, and review and comment on street and park improvements

The Zoning/Building Administrator is appointed by the City Council to enforce the planning and zoning ordinances and to issue building/construction permits.
The Zoning administrator works with the Council (through the Planning and Zoning Commission) to review all completed building permit applications, conduct inspections of buildings, structures, and use of land to determine compliance with the terms of the ordinance. He/she will make preliminary reviews of applications for variances and special exceptions, and provide assistance to the Board of Adjustments in determining the validity of such requests.
The Zoning administrator will also notify, in writing, persons responsible for violations of the provisions of these Ordinances and take the necessary action to correct violations including but not limited to issuing Municipal Code infraction citations.
